Position Description

The Spiritual Formation Pastor is responsible for creating consequential environments where equipped leaders facilitate life change for all involved. This is accomplished by providing leadership, clarity, development and presence which foster spiritual growth for the people of Grand Parkway. Environments under this position include Adult Bible Studies (ABS) on Sunday mornings, Midweek Classes on Wednesday night and engagement in other learning and service opportunities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assess needs, alter and affect the interests of the adults in the church by identifying opportunities for engagement
  • Be a collaborative presence with other age based ministries to support a comprehensive and cohesive spiritual formation which is both biblical and attractional
  • Shepherd staff , volunteers, leaders and ministry teams in responsible areas
  • Provide pastoral care to the congregation which includes but not limited to counseling, hospital visits, and other needs
  • Prepare, present for approval, and manage your ministry budget
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Possess a proven track record of effective leadership and team development
  • Be in agreement with the doctrinal position of the church and able to sign its statement of belief without reservation and embrace the mission, vision, values and DNA of Grand Parkway
  • Bachelor or Master degree in a related Christian ministry discipline strongly preferred and five to seven years of progressive leadership and ministry experience

Equipment/Skills/Knowledge needed to perform job:

  • Proficiency in use of Apple – Pages, Numbers, Keynote, etc., internet, and e-mail
  • Ability to effectively teach God’s Word
  • Ability to develop strategic and operational plans and effectively implement
  • Ability to clearly articulate a position and influence the decision of leaders, staff and volunteers
  • Proven organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to build consensus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills- ability to interface with staff, members and guests
  • Ability to solve complex problems using practical, analytical and intuitive judgment
  • Ability to analyze information and situations to identify potential problems
  • Valid Texas driver’s License

Measurable Expectations/Fiscal Responsibilities (quarterly reports, annual events):

  • Manage fiscal activities within established budgetary levels

Mobility/Physical Demands:

  • Employee must talk and listen via face-to-face contact and telephone
  • Employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Working Conditions/Environment (i.e., necessary travel, unusual hours, etc.):

  • Typical office and church ministry environment
  • Local, regional, and international travel as necessary
  • Work schedule may vary to respond to needs of the ministry and church.
