Local, National & Global Mission Opportunities

Missions is sending out people with authority to share the amazing news of Christ. It's what we're called to do as Christians. At the end of the gospel of Matthew, Jesus commissioned His followers to go and make disciples of people in all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to follow Him. At Grand Parkway we believe that missions is not an option; it is a choice to be obedient to God's command. We also believe that God has given us gifts and talents, and He has led us to some incredible opportunities where we can use them to live out His passionate plan for our city and our world.

There’s no need to go oversees to be a missionary! You can get involved in our own backyard by ministering to our local schools. We have partnerships with neighborhood schools including Mission West Elementary, Oyster Creek Elementary, Austin High School and Garcia Middle School.

  • Mentor an at-risk elementary student (one hour, once a week)
  • Read to students in the classroom
  • Help with various projects and events throughout the school year

The Houston area, including our own Fort Bend County, is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse areas of the country. We have people in our own neighborhoods that have not been exposed to the gospel.

We have an active ESL (English as a Second Language) program at Grand Parkway. Volunteers are always needed in the following areas:

  • Teach an ESL class on Tuesday nights
  • Bring homemade goodies and/or attend Community Coffee Hour on the first Tuesday of the month and help others from all over the world with their conversational English
  • Help with ESL reading classes on Sunday mornings

For more information visit our ESL page

We help support local missionaries, Jim and Johanna Morisey, in ministering to unreached people groups like Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs living in our local communities. The Moriseys are Grand Parkway members that have a heart to share the gospel, train up leaders and see people grow in their faith.

If you would like to learn how to minister to your international neighbors or want to join the Moriseys during their neighborhood visitations, contact the Missions Team

Throughout our communities, there are women facing unplanned pregnancy who are desperately looking for answers. Many of these women are contemplating abortion. The Pregnancy Resource Medical Center (PRMC) is an organization in Rosenberg dedicated to all women who are faced with an unplanned pregnancy. The goal of PRMC is to offer information, emotional support, spiritual encouragement and practical help that will empower a woman to choose life for their child and sexual integrity for themselves.

  • Become a prayer partner that will pray for these women, the decisions they are making and for their baby

Vergil and Kelsey Brown along with their 4 children are working with North American Mission Board (NAMB) to plant a church in the Albina District of Portland, Oregon. The Albina District, like much of Portland, is sparse in the area of biblical gospel preaching and teaching.

Grand Parkway will be engaged with Redemption Church through monthly support of their financial needs, annual ministry trips and regular dependance on the Spirit of God through prayer.

  • Open doors to proclaim the gospel to unbelievers, even amidst COVID-19.
  • Creativity to engage with core team members during a time of social distancing.
  • Wisdom to make the best use of the time.
  • New and inventive avenues for reaching people as we work to launch in September.

Since 2011, Grand Parkway has partnered with Ovidiu and Adina Petric, who run a local outreach center, to bring the Good News of Jesus to the villages in Romania. Each summer, we send a team to minister to the wonderful people in these villages through evangelism, VBS, community outreach and youth events. We also partner with Pastor Daniel, who ministers from the Baptist Church of Ohaba Lunga. This trip is a great opportunity to encourage and work beside Romanian believers; helping to grow the Church in the face of false gospels, the lingering impacts of Communism, and poverty.

  • Join a team that will travel to Romania to work with the Petrics to spread the Good News
  • Become a prayer partner for the Petrics and Pastor Daniel

For many years, Grand Parkway supported the mission work of the Carty Family spreading the gospel to the Guyami people in Costa Rica. Although that specific work is completed, we continue to support the network of local pastors on the Guyami Reservation who spread  the gospel to their own tribes. It is our desire to see the indigenous pastors grow in their knowledge of the Bible and their love of Christ.

  • Join a small teaching team that travels to Costa Rica and teaches selected passages of the Bible to the pastors and provides encouragement to them
  • Become a prayer partner for the pastors and the people on the reservation

In France there is currently only 1 church for every 30,000 people! We have partnered with Stephen and Sabrina Marshall and their ministry of church planting in Lyon, France. The Marshalls' ministry has already planted 4 churches in the Lyon area and has a goal of seeing 100 more new churches in Lyon (1 church per 10,000 people). They desire to see these church plants multiply out of their current churches and to see the people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

  • Pray for the Marshall family and the church plants in Lyon
  • Join a team that will travel to France to assist the local church plants in outreach events and to provide encouragement for the Marshall family
